My story of the day....a couple of weeks ago Kylee lost a tooth. She put it under her pillow and waited for the tooth fairy....just like I did many many years ago. I usually just sneak a couple of dollars under the pillow and take the tooth. Well she had left the tooth fairy a note.....It read something like this:

Dear Tooth Fairy,

Instead of money this time could you please give me a ruby bracelet.

Love,
Kylee

I was like wow!!! kids expect alot more now a days. I was happy with a couple of quarters under my pillow. Now Kylee wants a ruby bracelet. I thought ok maybe I need to buy a few little gifts to have and use them instead of giving money each time a kid lost a tooth. Well yesterday morning we were up getting ready for school and low and behold if Kylee didn't lose another tooth. We put it in a baggie so she could put it under her pillow for the tooth fairy. So all day yesterday I'm like ok...a ruby bracelet how can I come up with that. So after work I went the Drug Store they usually have some pretty neat (expensive) stuff. No ruby bracelet but they did have some ruby earrings. So I purchased those, really happy with myself. They cost $12 bucks but oh wells, right? I was kind of eager for night to come so that I could snatch that tooth and put the earrings under the pillow. Well, this morning Kylee came to me and says Mom the tooth fairy brought me ruby earrings. I was like no way the tooth fairy only gives money. That's when she told me that last time she lost a tooth she left a note for the fairy. I played dumb and was like oh yeah. She was so happy with those earrings. She asked if she could wear them to school. I told her that she could just to be careful with them. On another note today was crazy hair day...so I was also fixing Kylee some crazy hair. As I'm fixing hair, Kylee is removing her earrings from the cardboard that they were on. Once I finished her hair I told her to put her earrings in and hurry because the bus would be coming soon. I went on to get Blanche dressed and ready for her day at Day Care. Kylee had walked out the door, was gone only a short time when she came running back in to tell me she had dropped one of her earrings. We both looked but never found it. Guess this evening we will be on a mission to find that lost earring. I had my doubts about buying those because Kylee isn't that responsible for her stuff......she's 9. Hopefully this evening we will find the earring and all will be okay. I keep thinking how can I make her be more responsible for her stuff. She loses stuff all the time. I don't remember myself ever being that un-responsible but kids are alot different now than when I was a kid. What was a dollar to me back when I was a kid is NOTHING to a kid today. I hear "It's only $20, It's only $50, It's only $100 when the older 2 kids want something." I tell them :Do you know how many hours it takes Dad and I to make that money?" They don't care! You think this generation is in for a rude awakening when they get older, get a job and have all those wants??? You bet!
