Happy Birthday to my 2 digit kids....

I'm way behind on this post but hey that's what happens when you work at least 40 hours a week, have 5 kids and a hubby, house work and just day to day living. Wish I had time to post every day but it just doesn't happen in my life. Hope you don't mind that I'm combining Kylee & Nolan's birthdays. 2 of the kids have June birthday and 2 have July birthday and my baby well lucky him he gets a month all to himself. He's an October baby. Kylee turned 11 on July 18th and Nolan turned 10 on July 27th. We celebrated Kylee's birthday on Sunday the 24th. She left for church camp on her actual birthday, but was so ready to go to camp. We just had the grandparents and a couple of family friends over for the celebration. Which was just fine by me. Here are a few pictures from the celebration:

Then on Sunday, July 31st we celebrated Nolan's birthday. Again we just had the grandparents and a couple of family friends over. I now have 2 double digit kiddo's in the house. Believe me they won't let me forget that they are almost teenagers. Almost an every day reminder......blink and how do they get so big? Here's some pictures from Nolan's big celebration.

Why is it that children grow up so quickly now a days? Sure think they grow up quicker than when I was a kid. Do we push them to grow up more quickly or do we allow them to just be a kid? I'd like to think that I let my kids just be kids. But, I think that the world makes them grow up quickly.

Happy Friday to everyone. Hope that you have a wonderful weekend.

Wedding Rings?

Some may find this post weird but it bothers me. Sunday while in Sunday school class I was noticing how many people wore wedding rings and how many people didn't. Guess that is a weird thing to be noticing when I'm suppose to be listening and learning about God. Our class consisted of 9 people all of who are married. Out of those 9 people only 3 people had wedding rings on....2 of which were me and my husband. Why do people choose not to wear their wedding rings? My wedding ring is very special to me and it shows that I am special to someone else being my husband who put that ring on my finger 6 years ago. My husband also wear his ring, which makes me so proud. My wedding ring rarely comes off my finger. I normally take it off while I shower and do my hair but it goes right back on my finger when I finish putting the gel in my hair. I might take it off if I'm outside working in my flower bed or when me and my husband are working our cows. But, once I'm done.....my ring goes right back on my finger. To my that ring has a very special meaning not only to me but to God. That ring was put on my finger while my husband and I were making promises to God. The ring is a never ending circle....a circle that is not to be broken. It shows others that hey that guy or girl is taken....married!!! I know that some jobs require that you do not wear rings but why not put that ring back on when you aren't on the job? I'd like to hear from all of you.....why do some people choose not to wear their wedding ring(s)?

Happy 4th Birthday Blanche!

My baby girl turned 4 at 4:46 am on Saturday, June 25th. We didn't get to celebrate her big day until Sunday evening. We had cake and ice cream with just family. She had a good time. Received money, clothes, shoes and a bike. The bike was the big hit!
She is getting so big, very independent....and so ready to start preschool this fall. Where did those 4 years go. I've learned that time goes so quickly. I take extra time each day to hold and hug each of my children. I tuck them in at night and say a prayer over each one of them. Blanche is her own little person, very out going and voices her opinion. I don't think that I will have to worry about any one walking over this girl....which is a good thing. Here is a few pictures of Blanche, the day that she entered the world...she came out screaming.

And here's some pictures of her, when we celebrated her birthday!

8 months Old....Can he really be?

Can my baby boy really be 8 months old? Seems like yesterday that I told my wonderful husband that I thought we needed to go to the hospital. Only yesterday that I heard my husband say IT'S A BOY! Only yesterday that I held that little 6 lbs 14 oz baby boy in my arms. Now...8 months later he isn't as little or as still as he was 8 months ago. He won't sit still, is rolling all around on the floor, trying so hard to crawl, has 4 teeth, says dadda and momma, eats baby food and makes me just a happy momma. Here he is....

5QF--

1. If you had to choose, how would you prefer to choose to spend money...on landscaping or a pool?
Landscaping - Would love to have sidewalks, flowers, rock, trees. etc to fill my yard. I have a particle flower bed on one side of the house. As far as a pool...I am more of a creek/river girl. And that is free!

2. Death penalty, yay or nay? If they can prove without a shadow of doubt that a person is guilty, then YES I believe in the death penalty. But, I also know that there are people who are innocent and go to jail so if they have NO DOUBTS that the person is guilty then all means get rid of that person.....us working people are the ones who are helping pay their housing bills.

3. What's the worst thing your kid has gotten into when you turned your back/blogged/showered/blinked?
Where do I start??? Blanche is the one that is normally into everything. One time her and Gibson got into baby powder, dumped the whole bottle on the floor and on each other. Blanche looked like a little ghost when I got out of the shower. Blanche has gotten into my makeup....smeared it on the walls, counter top and in the carpet. Blanche has gotten into nail polish, that ended up ruining her "new" outfit and got in the carpet and dresser. This child just wait for mommy to leave the room to get into trouble. LOL

4. How often do you REALLY go to the dentist? Every 6 months. I had to pay for my own braces so I'm taking care of these very expensive teeth.

5. What is your favorite animal (doesn't have to be a pet-type animal)? I love watching monkeys at the zoo. As a pet it would be black labs.

Happy Birthday Gibson Brock Herzog Halbert!

Five years ago this morning at 6:31 am I gave birth to my first baby. A very loved baby boy whom we named Gibson Brock Herzog Halbert. Let me start around 10:30 am on June 1, 2006.....I had been put on complete bed rest on May 30th due to my blood pressure being so high. Laying around in bed is not something that made me happy, I was bored out of my mind. I mean come on you can only read so long and watch so much TV. My due date wasn't until June 15th...with this being my first baby I didn't know what to expect. All I knew was that there was NO WAY I could stand being on complete bed rest until June 15th. God knew that too because at around 10:30 am on June 1st I had got up to switch laundry loads. While in the laundry room, I felt a pop and a bunch of gunk came out. I was leaking watery stuff. I immediately called Mike. He told me that he thought that my water had just broke. I was all cool and calm said ok, I'd call Dr Cunningham to see what I needed to do. I spoke with Jaimee (who just had baby girl)she asked if the liquid was clear and I told her yes. She said that my water had indeed broke and that I needed to get to the hospital. I then asked if I could take a shower. Jaimee told me that would be fine. So, I called Mike back to let him know that he needed to get home because we were going to have a baby. Mike had called my parents to let them know and he was already on his way home. I was just getting out of the shower when he got home. He was way more nervous than me. He kept telling me to hurry up. I told him that I needed to call my work and let them know that I was headed to the hospital. He told me that could wait, that I could do that in the car. He headed me out the door so fast that I forgot my wedding ring on the bathroom sink. I couldn't have my baby without my rings....Let me just say that my wedding ring is my most favorite piece of jewelry. So, while on the way to the hospital I called work and my Mom. Asked my mom if she would stop at our house and get my wedding ring. We got to the hospital, checked in, all hooked up and waited. And Waited and waited! I was given meds to speed up the contractions....IT HURT! I had it all planned to have my baby with no meds for the pain but when I got to a 5 I was begging for the epidural. During the early morning hours I was pushing and pushing. Baby just didn't want to come out and the heart rate kept dropped. The dr was close to ordering a c-section when he said lets try a few more pushes. At 6:31 am on June 2nd, my beautiful baby boy decided to come out and meet us. The cord was wrapped around his neck, so the nurses immediately took him away to work on him. Talk about scared. No one would tell us anything. I told Mike to go check on the baby but they wouldn't let him near the baby. Finally after what seemed like forever, our baby cried. Our baby boy weighed 7 lbs 6 oz and was 19 inches long. The most beautiful baby in the world was placed in my arms. We had no idea if God was going to bless us with a baby boy or a baby girl. We chose to be surprised and surprised we were when Dr McCaul told us that we had a baby boy. To me Gibson was just beautiful or do I need to say handsome? Either way I was totally in love.

After about 20 hours of labor I forgot about all the pain I had just went through.
I thank God every day for blessing us with Gibson and trusting us to do our best to raise him right. Here's some pictures that was taken on one of the most wonderful days of my life.

Now 5 years later.....

The first picture was taken with the birthday hat that he got at school. A week before school was out they celebrated the summer birthdays. The second picture was taken over Memorial Day weekend. I just can't believe it has been 5 years since I held this big boy as a baby boy. HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY GIBSON BROCK HERZOG HALBERT!
WITH LOTS OF LOVE FROM DADDY, MOMMY, KYLEE, NOLAN, BLANCHE & RIPKEN
